Project entry
Projects can be brought in at any stage from target to lead. Often, these are validated targets or biological test systems relating to hypotheses about a possible effect on medical conditions. In some cases, these can already be chemical starting points or initiated hit-to-lead projects.
All projects must be innovative and characterized by both superior quality and a high medical need. At this early stage, a patent application is not yet required. However, a necessary condition is the willingness for an intensive and open exchange in order to ensure a close, active cooperation between the LDC and its partners. The LDC establishes steering committees for all projects, which organize regular project meetings. Project revenues are shared equitably.
Tailored solutions for innovative projects
LDC services span the full scope of drug discovery from target to lead generation and first characterization in relevant animal models. Depending on the specific needs of each individual project, the interdisciplinary team operates in flexible structures and integrates external expertise where appropriate.
Partners take advantage of the LDC’s professional approach to project management and industrial drug discovery know-how to obtain first-rate results. Projects are aligned along a solid timeline model with clearly pre-defined milestones and go/no-go decisions. Throughout the process, the team places particular emphasis on consolidating and expanding the IP position – a prerequisite for future commercialization.
The typical outcome of LDC development efforts are high-quality pharmaceutical leads with initial proof-of-concept in animal models, that have the best prospects of receiving high valuations in licensing deals with the pharmaceutical industry.
